Ghanaian Community Anglican Church

Crafting successful futures with timeless guidance

The Ghanaian Community Anglican Church, USA – Virginia is a mission‑focused congregation under the Anglican Church of Ghana, which forms part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our mission is to serve the spiritual needs of Ghanaians and friends in the diaspora through:

  • Anglican liturgical worship that honours God and follows the historic Book of Common Prayer.

  • Culturally relevant ministry that celebrates our heritage and speaks to the realities of diaspora life.

  • Community outreach and discipleship that extend Christ’s love to our neighbours and help believers grow in faith.

  • Fellowship rooted in Ghanaian values of unity, respect and love.

Our church is led by Rev. Nana Yaw Amankwah, who, together with our team of ministers and lay leaders, seeks to create a spiritual home where faith, culture and community flourish.

Our Mission

The Ghanaian Community Anglican Church, USA – Virginia exists to glorify God by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nurturing disciples through sound biblical teaching, celebrating Anglican worship enriched with Ghanaian heritage, and serving our community in love and compassion.

We are committed to building a Christ-centered spiritual home where faith is deepened, lives are transformed, and believers are equipped to live out God’s purpose wherever they are planted.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a Spirit-filled Anglican church that faithfully connects generations, cultures, and communities—raising believers who are rooted in Scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, and committed to advancing God’s Kingdom locally and globally.

We envision a thriving church family that:

  • Strengthens the faith of the Ghanaian diaspora
  • Welcomes people of all backgrounds
  • Preserves Christian values and godly cultural identity
  • Impacts society through prayer, service, and evangelism

Our Beliefs

We are an Anglican congregation under the Anglican Church of Ghana, holding firmly to historic Christian faith while embracing the active work of the Holy Spirit today.

We believe that:

  • The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God

  • Jesus Christ is Lord, Savior, and Redeemer

  • Worship should be reverent, Spirit-led, and life-giving

  • Faith must be lived out through love, service, and obedience

  • The Church is called to unity, holiness, and mission

About Us

Statement of Faith

We affirm the historic creeds of the Christian Church and hold the following as core truths of our faith:

  • The Holy Trinity

We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three persons in one divine essence.

  • Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come again in glory.

  • The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living.

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, leading to repentance, forgiveness of sins, and new life in Him.

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe in the active presence of the Holy Spirit, who convicts, sanctifies, empowers believers, and equips the Church with spiritual gifts for ministry and service.

  • The Sacraments

We believe in the two sacraments ordained by Christ—Baptism and Holy Communion—as outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace.

  • The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, called to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and serve the world in love and truth.

  • Christian Hope

We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the life everlasting, and the fulfillment of God’s Kingdom according to His promises.
